Welcome to Hackney Live

Last Broadcast: The Big Music Project. This show will be available to watch on demand shortly.

The Cream of East London’s young talent is coming together for one night only, as part of The Big Music Project 2016.

Friday 11 March sees talented singers, rappers and instrumentalists aged 15 to 22 from Hackney descend on Hoxton Hall, to showcase the best the borough has to offer. The showcase will also feature an exclusive performance from rising Afrobeat-tinged rapper Timbo STP.

The Hackney Live-produced event will be streamed live via YouTube, and offers viewers the chance to put their questions to acts – as well as influence parts of what happens on the night. The show features more acts and more cameras; simply more local talent in front of and behind the lenses than ever before.

Timbo STP will be hosting the night’s entertainment alongside another seasoned performer, singer-songwriter Oluwalinda. A panel of young people will be offering feedback to the acts, and putting them through their paces with questions from social media.

The Big Music Project, a nation-wide program of events supported by The Big Lottery Fund alongside partners Capital FM, BPI and UK Youth, is all about giving opportunities and advice to young people aged 14-24 interested in getting into the music business.

The run-up to the show has seen young people from Hackney coached in their performing skills, while others have taken up training sessions on how to promote their music via social media. The live production team will also feature young people gaining valuable on-the-job technical training.

Timbo STP said: “The positive outlook of this project is incredible! I’m always looking to show support to those around me that feel like there talent is going unnoticed. So when Hackney asked me to be involved, it was a definite YES!”

The live show begins at 7pm on Friday 11 March. There will also be a recorded show of other talented acts available on-demand.
